Piece In Progress…

The following is an excerpt from a piece in progress I've been wanting to share.  Thoughts?  Comments?  What do you think it's about?  Do you want to hear more?  PLEASE SHARE…

 

"I pressed my lips tightly together as the words came out of the Man’s mouth.  I kept my lips pressed together, and began to nod in an act of acknowledgment of what was being revealed.  I continued to nod adding a tilt of the head in disbelief, awe, surprise, and at the same time acceptance.  And then, as it all had quickly climbed to an apex of emotions gone-wild in my head, my pursed lips and now glassy eyes that had been sealed in a silent tsunami, spilled out uncontrollably in waves of tears.  Raw.  Tired.  Empty. 

I listened intently to the words that were being said, though I was nowhere to be found in my sea of thoughts.  I heard everything and yet I heard nothing.  I glazed over the papers that had been handed to me, but could only see a jumble of black type on white paper.  Occasionally, I’d look in the direction of the Other Man in the corner of my peripheral vision.  He was supposed to be able to provide answers to my questions about the papers that confirmed the inevitable end of my old life.  Instead he seemed to be hovering like a phantom in the corner of the room."
