NYC – Wake Up Call!
If you're in NYC, you were probably jolted from sleep at the crack of dawn yesterday by a screeching Amber Alert on your cell phone. The good news is the missing child was found. The bad news is that you woke up in a panic, confused, and annoyed. For those that wondered if there's a way to change this phone setting, here you go:
How to Turn Off Amber Alerts
- On an iPhone: Go to Settings, and select "Notifications." Scroll all the way down and you will find a "Government Alerts" section where you can toggle on or off the Amber Alerts.
- For Android, BlackBerry and other devices: Each device's alert system is managed by the carrier – Verizon, Sprint, etc. – so you'll need to contact your cellular carrier.
