Type Less. Talk More!

With so many ways to communicate with each other these days, it would seem that people are closer than ever, in touch & in tune with everyone we know.

But the opposite is really true when we realize that instead, we're falling victim to something bigger than us:  the lure of the text, social media, and technology that's putting us in touch while deviously keeping us out of touch all at once.

There's no denying how easy it is to send a text to say 'hello' without ever having to engage in an hour-long conversation just to say 'hello'.  And there's no denying how efficient it feels to update your status to multiple friends at once, not needing to wait 'til you can individally connect with each & every person.  And there's absolutely no question that social media is a highly effective method of communicating information in a time of crisis, like during hurricane Sandy.

But what ever happened to the art of really communicating?  Creating, building & maintaining great relationships with people?  With all the typing our way into each others' lives, have you noticed how little we're actually relating?

Today & EveryDay:  Remember that technology is no substitute for face-to-face connections with those you care about.  It's ok to use it to supplement your daily relationships, but it should never be a replacement.  Type less.  Talk more.
